A Legacy of Excellence
Pharmacist Donald J. Karches established Merchandise Inc. in 1963, discounting over-the-counter and other drug store commodities long before such discounts were fashionable. This aggressive marketing strategy allowed Merchandise Inc. to immediately capture a large and loyal market share and facilitated its growth over the last four decades.
During that time, we have successfully navigated multiple structural changes to the retail landscape, including the replacement of independent drug stores with chains, the rise of Walmart and other mass-market retailers, and the more recent transition to e-commerce.
